July 7/25/08 The Herbal Cottage Garden, a symposium hosted by the Connecticut Unit of The Herb Society of America, will be Friday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Pond House and herb garden in Elizabeth Park in Hartford. Carol King Platt, Nancy Moore and the co-chairs of the Unit will present three illustrated talks about the use of herbs in cottage style gardens. An herbal luncheon will be served and there will be herb plants for sale, a pantry, boutique, raffle baskets, herb garden tours and more. To reserve a place please send a check made out the CT Unit HSA for $35 to Kathy Donohue, PO Box 1231, Litchfield, CT 06759. Please include your email address and phone number; confirmation by email. For further information: jack.kathy@att.net. * Unless otherwise noted, regular meetings are held at 8p.m. on the third Thursday of the month at Emanuel Synagogue. Please note change of location and date in September to 3d Wednesday and change in March to 2d Thursday. Nonmembers are welcome with a suggested donation of $5. .** Members are encouraged to donate extra plants, seeds, or garden items to the auctions. Proceeds go toward the CHS Scholarship Fund. Directions to Emanuel Synagogue—160 Mohegan Dr., West Hartford. From I-84 take Exit 43 (West Hartford Center, Park Road). Turn right at exit and go half a block to next light. Turn left onto Trout Brook Dr. Proceed for six lights. Turn right on Albany Ave. Go to the next light, Mohegan Dr., and turn left. Pass two stop signs. Synagogue is on the right. Parking in the rear of the building.
